Remember: Think Twice and Be Yrself
A public service announcement from the legendary Petey Greene:
Petey Greene was one of Washington, D.C.'s most prominent media personalities in the 1970s and 1980s. As TV and radio talk show host, Greene won 2 Emmy Awards.
In 1960, Greene was convicted of armed robbery- Greene robbed a small grocery store and was sentenced to ten years in prison. While at the Lorton Reformatory, Greene became the prison's disc Jockey. To get out of jail on parole, in 1965, Greene convinced a friend/fellow inmate to climb on top of a prison water tower and threaten to jump/aka commit suicide. Greene "saved" his friend's life by talking him down. As a reward for his good behavior and his "heroic" act, Greene was released from prison on parole. The whole suicide spectacle was an act/show and a clever way to escape from jail.
