Perri "Pebbles" Reid

In the early 1980's, Perri Alette McKissack, a.k.a Perri 'Pebbles' started singing back up for the funk outfit Con Funk Shun.

Eventually getting her own gig, she made several songs over the next ten years.

Around 1990, Pebbles found Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes) hanging out around Atlanta, GA and formed the trio TLC . In 1994, TLC released Crazysexycool. This album went platinum 11 times. People were all about it. Basically, TLC did this song. Everyone knows this song:

Serving as TLC's manager, Pebbles helped guide TLC's career. TLC alleged that Pebbles was mismanaging their finances, and Pebbles fell under intense public and professional scrutiny.

Eventually, TLC filed for bankruptcy:

According to TLC's new manager, Noah Nixon, Pebbles took advantage of the girls. Nixon said, "People made over $100 million off these girls and they were getting around $75,000 a year."

Eventually, the girls in TLC and Pebbles went their separate ways. At the same time, Pebbles' marriage to producer L.A. Reid crumbled, causing them to get a divorce.

The personal turmoil and intense public scrutiny caused Pebbles to leave the secular music industry.

Now, after all that, Pebbles is a Christian minister under the name of Sister Perri.[1]
