Yr a Sure Shot: Man Who Threw A Shoe Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

In case you missed it:

An Iraqi court sentenced Iraqi TV reporter, Muntadher al-Zaidi to three years in prison for throwing his shoes at Former President GW Bush at a December news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in Baghdad.

When asked why he threw his shoes at GW Bush, he said that he was spurred into action by the violence that USA had wrought upon the Iraqi people.

Zaidi testified:

"I had the feeling that the blood of innocent people was dropping on my feet during the time that he was smiling and coming to say bye-bye to Iraq with a dinner. So I took the first shoe and threw it but it did not hit him. Then spontaneously I took the second shoe but it did not hit him either. I was not trying to kill the commander of the occupation forces of Iraq." And yes- It's obvious to see why a semi educated person in Iraq would be angry at former President GW Bush. Under both President Bushes (yes both, father and son) command, the US army has killed thousands of innocent and not so innocent people using tanks, depleted uranium bombs and planes in the name of freedom and democracy.

Mr. Zaidi had a SURE SHOT and he took it. He DID NOT mean maybe- at what point does a person sit peacefully complacent, and at what point does one act and throw shoes in protest? What are people supposed to do when they want to confront the often unjust military/economic might of United States Government?

But things do work out for SURE SHOTS like journalist Zaidi. Now, being a world icon, there is no way he can loose. According to the NY Times, a Saudi Arabian man offered Zaidi $10 Million for one of the shoes that he threw at former President Bush!

Mr. Zaidi should take the money so he won't have to run anymore- with $10 million, he can live somewhere and relax.
